Sunshine and Lolipops

Look outside at that sunshine...well...you probably ARE outside...unlike me...propped up with an ice pack and popping anti-inflammatories on the couch...feeling just a teeny weeny bit sorry for myself...can you tell? lol:)

I injured my back on Friday at the gym and have been laid up rigamortis style since then. Sometimes even smartie-pants, uber-conservative, safe-progession-focused peeps like me slip up and wind up on the couch.

The ironic part of it all is this...after weeks of sucking-it-up-princess-style weekend workouts in the nastiness of wicked winter weather...the sun comes out in full force, the temperature climbs above 10 and I can't go out and play.

And so, something that never happens, happened. I got to go and CHEERLEAD. That is the great part- I got to go and cheer on the ELM athletes, friends and family who were laying it all down at the Comox Valley Half Marathon.

What a fantastic day for a race...check out my pics below!

Simon Whitfeld pacing with the front of the packers around 4km...

End of Winter

Good bye mister snowman... It has been a soggy, cold, yicky couple of weeks for endurance training! Snow, slush, sleet, muck, wind, puddles (well, lakes really) and COLD have made for a few 'sufferfest' style weekend workouts. This little snowman was on my car when I came back from a 3hour plus snow run 2 weekends ago. Made me smile for sure:)

Luckily I have a few friends who are into suffering along with me so we managed to get in a couple of solid weekends of endurance miles regardless of the weather. The past few weekends have looked like this:
Friday 1.5-2hour LSD (inside torture but warm and dry!) spin
Sat 3-3.5hour LSD trail run/snow treks:)
Sun 2-3hour slushfest bikes

My sauna has never brought me more pleasure:)

Here is one of my bike riding sufferfest buddy's post ride bums...any guesses who this could be?

We just wrapped up our winter session of Bootcamp and we are all looking forward to the spring session now!! Details are on the elm website and registration is filling up quickly so be sure to check it out and sign up if you are planning to join us! www.elmhealth.com

Boys against the girls! We went inside to Island Pilates and Fitness last Thursday cause the trees were blowing over outside in 80k gusts! Such a beautiful space to hide out from the storm!

This past week we had a fun Members only event at Mountain City Cycle...after hours bike mainteance night with the crew from MCC! Good times, great skills and a fun group to spend the evening with:) Thanks so much to John and Brent for staying after hours to help out the crew with their repairs!

Marina at the helm...

Nicole working the rear wheel...

We have more awesome Members events coming up this spring including a Spring partay and fashion show at Lotuswear on April 4th...and another afterhours bike repair night at MCC on April 27th.
Now...crossing fingers for a snowfree weekend of big runs and rides!!!
Cheers,
Sarah.

Live Laugh Love

Live Laugh Love.

Life is much too short.

Monday morning I learned that this world lost a beautiful soul...Jenn.

My words are...well...empty.

This woman, wise beyond her years, has taught thousands of people to LIVE LAUGH LOVE each day over the past few years as she battled against the worlds most evil opponent. I want to share her final blogpost with you, so that her light may live on in you, too.

If there was ever a day to do it, spread love people. Today is the day. Hug somebody, tell someone you love, that you love them. Smile at a baby.

Pay someone a random compliment and watch how they stand just a little bit taller.
Get a hair cut and feel good about yourself, you are beautiful.

Go for a walk in the rain, splurge and by a pair of fancy rubber boots. Eat your favorite chocolate bar.

Buy a new book soley based on the way the cover looks. Indulge in yourself, love yourself. Squeeze your pet. Take a nap.

Buy the person in the drive thru lane behind you thier coffee this morning. call that friend you have been meaning to reconnect with. Be creative today. Paint, draw, sew. Maybe today is the day to finally forgive and move on. Trust yourself. Be decisive today.

Peel a pomegranate. sit down and write a list of everything that you love or are
grateful for in you life, include everything from warm peanutbutter chocolate
chip cookies to your soulmate. Buy a coffee and breathe in the beauty around you.

Do it, spread love. It's the only reason we exist. I love you, I believe in you. If you are checking this blog this morning I am grateful for you, I love that you exist.

Happy Valentines Day, the best day of the year, the day that
exists merely so that you can experience love. I love you more than you know.
You are the best. xoxoox

Rest in peace.
